Spreading excellence and disseminating the cutting edge results of our research and development efforts is crucial to our institute. Check for our educational offers for Bachelor, Master and PhD studies at the University of Innsbruck!
Learning Outcome:
After completing this module, students know and understand the basic concepts of parallel systems and parallel programming and can apply them. They are able to develop, optimise and analyse programmes for parallel computers with shared memories in terms of performance. They have acquired the skill to work out similar contents themselves.
Contents:
Introduction to basic concepts of parallel computing, types and properties of modern shared-memory parallel computers, performance metrics such as speedup and efficiency, programming in OpenMP, data dependence analysis, work and data distribution, optimization of parallel programs, selected parallel algorithms.
Methods:
Practical exercises.
Assessment:
Combined (oral and written)
Literature:
To be discussed in the seminar
